Who pays for a child to be in a residential program?

Residential services can be paid for by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) or the Department of Mental Health (DMH). In order for either of these agencies to pay, a child must have an open case with that agency. Referrals for residential services are then made by the agency to NCYF.
