Therapeutic Foster Care and Family Stabilization Team
Being part of a functioning family and a community teaches emotionally disturbed children essential life skills, and helps them feel anchored, nurtured, and safe. Northeast Center's intensive case management services make our therapeutic foster care and family-based initiatives distinctly effective. Our experienced social workers instruct, guide, and support families in practical behavioral and coping skills.
     With the help of well-trained foster parents, an adolescent who often has suffered from neglect and abuse can learn how to use good judgment, resolve conflicts, and have confidence in adults again. Northeast Center operates over 120 carefully selected foster care homes across Massachusetts. By actively recruiting, intensively training, and closely supporting our families, we have been able to retain many compassionate, adept, and seasoned foster parents. Kids who have "stepped-down" from our residential programs benefit from Northeast Center's consistent and informed treatment.
     Helping kids remain in their own homes is integral to our mission. The experienced social workers of our Family Stabilization Team work with families of children who have been hospitalized for psychiatric disorders. By nurturing communication and parenting abilities, we help empower families to help themselves.
