Residential

Northeast Center's residential programs serve children and adolescents with the most serious emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric needs. Some come to us after being discharged from hospitals; others come from their family, foster, or other group homes. They often have multi-layered psychiatric, emotional, and behavioral conditions that require insightful, integrated treatment.
Our comfortable residential homes provide a safe and structured environment for kids. The staff client ratio is a low one-to-two. Supported by these trained staff, kids are able to learn new skills in caring for themselves, communicating with others, and managing their behavior. Our programs use the community-at-large to help kids practice skills—from shopping to riding the bus. In all that we do, our goal is to help kids not only decrease dangerous behavior, but increase life skills.
Northeast Center's 24-hour therapeutic environments are staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of mental health and other professionals that provides individualized treatment including psychiatric, psychopharmacological, psychological, nursing, nutritional, family, educational/vocational, expressive therapy, and recreational services. Referrals to the programs are typically made by state agencies serving children and families.

Residential Treatment Programs
Using a cognitive-behavioral, psycho-educational approach, our residential treatment sites, based in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut, prepare kids to be reunified with their families or placed in less-restrictive settings including other group care, foster care, or supervised independent living.
